Poison Dart Frog -- Puerto Viejo de Limón, Costa Rica

Costa Rica has incredibly biodiversity. Many people visit the country because of the incredible range of plant and animal species that live there. The Costa Rican economy relies on tourism and the country is famous for its ecotourism. It is therefore more profitable for the government to preserve these natural resources rather than demolishing them in the name of development.

According to the Lonely Planet travel guide (9th edition), Costa Rica attracts over one million tourists each year and "almost one-third of the country is now under some form of environmental protection."
